bedroom furniture thoughts needed

So, we're working on ideas for the girls sharing a room in the future. Basically, I'm wanting to go ahead and get whatever bed Caroline is going to need (even though she won't need it for a little while since she'll be sharing a room with Nathan for a few months). So, what do you think? Two separate twin beds with under bed storage and little to no other furniture - or - bunk beds with the ability to have some kind of storage furniture? Any thoughts?

fear of the unknown

Sunday night, Caroline and I were headed into church. She was a little ornery because I had gotten her up from her nap before she was ready. She was awake, but not yet ready to get up. Anyway, she was lagging behind me a little on the sidewalk so I stopped to tell her to catch up. When I turned around, she was picking her feet up one after another. She would pick one up slowly until her knee was at a pretty good angle and then repeat with the other one. She did this three or four times all while seeming to be really concentrating on something. All of the sudden, she let out a scream...her "something's on me and I can't get it off" scream. It was at that moment that I realized that she had discovered her shadow. She was picking up her feet trying to get it off. And when it didn't come off, she flipped out. :) We had a brief lesson about shadows, but we were already late for church, so it was short. I'll guess we'll have to really check out the shadows one of these days!

an amusing moment

There are many times that my kids make me laugh...or at least amused. Sometimes they say silly things. Sometimes they just act silly. Other times, it's just a lack of information. Yesterday, I had one of these moments with Caroline. She squatted down and saw a ball under our living room console table. She reached her arm under with all her might to try and get the ball. Her arm just wasn't long enough...or so it appeared. So, I decided to help her. After getting down on the floor to look under, I realized the problem...the ball was at the other end of the table - like 5 feet away! No wonder she couldn't reach it! It made me chuckle.

Caroline loves to climb. She's pretty good at it, too, so I don't worry about her too much. This day, she climbed up on the stool without help and was pretty proud of herself.


This is a Nathan creation. And Caroline loved it!


Nathan is always wanting me to take his picture with William. He loves that dog! Most every night when he prays, he thanks God for "my William and blankies".


One day last week we went to the park. While Caroline was on the swing, I ran over to take a picture of Nathan picking up the pinestraw (which would later be money for him to get out of jail).


I tried to get a picture of him standing, but he kept putting the pinestraw in front of his face. I told him to hold it to the side a little and this is what I got.


Later, after Caroline was off the swing and we were headed to where Nathan was playing, I heard behind me "picture...picture". As I turned around I found her squatting to pick up pinestraw. That little girl loves to do whatever her brother does!


After a squatting picture, she stood up and did this. I knew immediately that she was holding her pinestraw to the side...just like Nathan had!

A Trip to the Mountains - part 5

Before we left on Monday, we took a walk around the place where we stayed (Uncle Jason and fam had already left). Several portions of our walk involved the geese. We stopped to watch them for a minute and they thought we had something to feed them. The close ones swam over and the ones across the lake flew over.



We didn't actually have anything, but the geese were brave enough to get pretty close.


Later, we found some bread on the ground that someone had left behind. Now this kids actually had something to give the geese (and a couple ducks).

While the guys watched the UGA game (and the girls part of the time), the ladies made cinnamon rolls from scratch. They were good, but they were GIGANTIC. We'll know what to modify next time!

Nathan wanted to help. He was allowed to do a few things, but mostly we stuck with this being a ladies' project.


Grandma thought that it would be fun to melt a mountain of butter!


Aunt Jenn got the fun job of mixing the dough. :)


Here is the end process...I was cutting the roll into individual cinnamon rolls, Grandma was putting them onto the cookie sheets, and Aunt Jenn was buttering the tops.

A Trip to the Mountains - part 2

After putting the girls down for a nap, a few of us took a walk over to the dam for the lake. It was nice out, so it was a good time for a walk.

A Trip to the Mountains - part 1

The two weekends ago (Oct 24th - 27th), we went to the mountains with Grandma and Granddad. Uncle Jason, Aunt Jenn, and Kaitlin also got to come. Saturday morning, we went into downtown Helen and walked around. Nobody bought much, but we had a good time. After lunch, we tried to get a picture of all three kids. Have you ever tried to get three kids under 5 to look and smile at the same time??? Impossible!

On October 22nd, Nathan and I met up with some other moms and kids at the Lane Packing Plant. It's a peach packing plant, but this time of year they have other activities. Most importantly, they have a corn maze. Nathan and I had a great time in the corn maze and also got to take a hay ride. Afterwards, he got some ice cream. It was a nice trip - nice for just Nathan and Mommy to have some time together. Here is a picture of us on the hayride:


On the way home, I spotted this old truck parked under the side of an old barn. I thought it looked neat so we turned around to get a few pictures. I was just disappointed that I didn't have my "good" camera with me.
