Don't miss all the new posts. I put up about a hundred of them tonight. I plan to put up about a hundred more soon. Maybe I'll even get caught up!
December - Pictures #6 (Nelson Christmas)
On Sunday after Christmas, we got together with Mommy's extended family. It was nice to be in the same place with everyone. It's getting crazier each year, though, as we add kids. This year, we had three new ones for a total of six!
I didn't get too many non-posed shots, but here are a few of some of the kids opening their presents from Mema.
We made an attempt at getting a picture of the three babies. It was a challenge to try and get them all to look the same direction while sitting still. I stayed right behind the couch to catch any of them that tried to dive for the edge.
And I know this has nothing really to do with the kids, but I wanted to include it anyway. This is the quilt that I made Mema. It's not quite finished, but it was done enough to give.

December - Pictures #5 (Moseley Atlanta Christmas)
The day after Christmas we made a quick trip to Winder to visit with Daddy's extended family. It was great to get to see most everyone, but it's never long enough.
Some of the girls had fun watching a video for a while. Caroline had fun dancing to the songs.
Sara got lots of attention since there were plenty of hands to hold her. This is Matt's Aunt Jenny.
Here are all the little ones except for the two babies (plus one not actually related).
By mid-afternoon Caroline was wiped out.
And here is a shot of a good portion of the room.
PS: Liz, I need to get a full-sized shot of the whole group. Please.

December - Pictures #4 (Christmas Morning)
We tried to take the obligatory "in front of the Christmas tree" picture before we started opening presents Christmas morning. Sara wasn't into it so we didn't get a good one. Oh well. No biggie.
In the weeks before Christmas, Nathan put together several of his own presents for Caroline. They were a bit interesting, but Caroline enjoyed opening them.
He also made one (or two maybe) for Sara. Yep...a thread spool. Sara had fun with it, so I suppose that's all that matters.
Nathan got a couple books and couldn't wait to get into them. Caroline got a couple books and Nathan couldn't wait to get into them. This particular one is Nathan's.
I had fun making some Christmas presents this year. Caroline got a chef hat and apron. (It's already been used several times for real cooking in addition to all the pretend play.)
Sara got a fun animal poppers toy. She really enjoys closing them!

Nathan's favorite gift of the morning was really bright flashlight "like Daddy's". Good thing I found one Christmas Eve at a decent price!
And Caroline loved her purple hat with fluffy balls on the ends and top. Due to the crazy cold weather we've been having, it's seen a lot of use.
Nathan got his first ever video game. It's Nintendogs to play on Daddy's DS. It's all about raising a dog - playing, cleaning, training, etc. He named the dog "Lucky". It's funny to hear him sitting around calling "Luuuuckyyyyy".
So...that is our Christmas morning in pictures. What I didn't mention is that we started the morning with donuts. We read the Christmas story from the Bible and acted it out with Caroline's nativity scene. Then, we did presents. Once presents were done, we had our second breakfast - pancakes and french toast sticks. Yummy! And then we spent the rest of the day hanging out, playing with our new gifts, and enjoying being together.

On December 13th, the Children's Choirs at church performed in "big church". Before church, they practiced and I took plenty of pictures. You just never know what's going to happen during the actual performance. Plus, when they practice, I can walk around to get a better angle if needed.
The little ones always create a nativity scene to display what they are singing. Nathan was a shepherd when he was 3, a wise man when he was 4, and an angel this year.
See him back there? He's holding the star. He made sure to let me know that he was the head angel and that he liked that. When I asked why he liked being the head angel, he said it was because it meant he was in charge and could tell all the other angels what to do. Yep, that's my boy.
Later, they gathered as a group. I was able to actually catch a decent picture of him singing.
And here is the whole group. I think this group goes through 4th grade. The 5th and 6th graders also sang.

Nathan's Birthday Party
On December 5th, we had Nathan's birthday party. We had it early to try and avoid some of the Christmas craziness. This year, Nathan wanted to have his party at IHOP. I offered, instead, that we could have a pancake party. So, that's what we did. Nana (and Grandma and Grandaddy) cooked pancakes and we had all sorts of toppings for them. Nathan even blew out a candle on the stack of pancakes.
Nathan didn't put any toppings on his pancakes, but the rest of the kids did. Here is Caroline's plate.
And here are Nathan's friends. I know you are going to think that we only let him invite girls, but it's just not true. He was actually supposed to have one boy there, but he was sick. Oh well, Nathan had a good time and doesn't seem to notice the gender of his guests. (As a side note, the one next to Nathan who is wearing purple has a plan to marry Nathan when they get older.)
Daddy made a frying pan and Nathan cut out pancakes for a Pin the Tail on the Donkey-type game. However, we couldn't find a good place to play it. Instead, we played throw the pancakes at the pan. The kids thought it was good fun. Nathan made a paper "winner" ribbon. Each round, whoever got closest to the center got to wear the ribbon. I think everybody won eventually.
Towards the end, Daddy read all the kids a Curious George book about making pancakes. The little girl on the right wasn't actually there for most of the book. She had gone back to eating pancakes with chocolate chips.
Later, after lunch, we had cake and ice cream with just the family...well, with the grandparents. Nathan blew out the candle and we sang to him again.
And then he decided that he wanted the candle on his piece of cake as well. Grandma quickly fulfilled the Birthday Boy's wishes. Nobody can say that he missed out by having him birthday near Christmas! (Plus, on his actual birthday, we took him to eat for lunch and had hamburgers at Grandma and Granddad's for supper.)
After lunch, Sara went down for a nap. And after cake and ice cream, so did Caroline. Nathan was itching to get into his Magnetism set (even though he didn't know what it was when he opened it). Granddad and Nathan spent quite a while doing some of the experiments. Nathan had a great time and so did Granddad!
We also took a few videos for the people who sent gifts but weren't able to be there. They are over on Dropshots.
