birthday celebrations

We were pretty busy on Caroline's birthday, so I wasn't able to take any pictures at home. We did, however, make it over to Sears to get some made. However, here is one of Caroline and her friend Sara Grace in their matching pj's. Sara Grace and her brother and mommy came down for Caroline's party the next day.


Here's a quick picture of Caroline. Can you tell from all these pictures what Caroline's favorite color is? I'll give you one guess...and I'm pretty sure that's all you need!


Thanks to Miss Michelle (Sara Grace's mommy), Caroline had a very froggy party! Yes, Caroline does like frogs...though, if you ask her what one is she'll probably respond "ribbit".


The favorite gift of the day seemed to be her sequined play shoes. She even figured out how to walk around in those heels!


Blowing out the last candle took a few tries, but made for a great photo op.


After a long morning and afternoon, Caroline found a comfy place for her nap.

After putting these pictures together from Caroline's second year, I tried to find some fitting music. I couldn't come up with anything that seemed right. While looking through the pictures, however, Caroline came up and started narrating. I decided to record some of her commentary. The video above is the result (after multiple various versions). getting there...

Well, it's been slow going this month on the blog. I'd say that I'll try to be more regular with posts, but I just don't know if it will happen. We're gearing up for Baby #3 to join our family, so we're busy. On that note, I'll try to post an update soon about what she's been up to.

Here are Nathan and Caroline making use of their new table. I think it is going to be a hit!


Caroline wants to be just like her brother. She follows him around, plays with the toys he likes, and just generally keeps a close eye on him. I often find her watching what he does and then immediately imitating him. On this particular day, Nathan had hit his head pretty good and was putting a cold pack on it. Caroline wanted one, too, and I just didn't see a good reason not to let her have one.


Last weekend, we were able to make a trip to NC to see my brother and his family. I didn't get too many pictures (again), but here are a few. The girls shared a bath Saturday night, so Aunt Jenn and I turned into paparazzi.



Caroline thought that she would try to help Kaitlin out by bathing her.


We sat all three kids down on Sunday after church to try and get a picture of them together. I think this one turned out pretty good (at least if you ignore Nathan's big ol' feet in the front).

Christmas with the Moseley side

The Saturday after Christmas, we traveled up to Winder to celebrate Christmas with the extended Moseley family. Unfortunately, we didn't get many pictures. (If you have some I can download, please let me know where to find them.) We did take a picture of the kids wearing their pj's that they got from Gramma, though.


We waited until New Year's Eve to head to Augusta (or as Nathan would now correct, Evans) to do Christmas with the Moseleys. We visited for a little bit that night, but we didn't really do Christmas until the next day. We spent several days there and enjoyed getting to see Nana, Granddaddy, and Aunt Erin. We missed Uncle Sean and Aunt Lisa, but we did video Christmas with them on Christmas Eve.



Aunt Erin made Caroline a cute little crown-thing. (Sorry, I don't know what to call it.) Nathan said that it made her look like an angel. :)


It didn't take long after present opening for Nathan to convince Granddaddy to help him put together his new train.



The kids helped Aunt Erin make party mix. Look at how talented Aunt Erin is - holding Caroline, letting her eat raisins, AND making party mix with plenty of Nathan help!


It took a while to find the time, but eventually Caroline got to try out her new wheels. The kids had to go in circles under the shelter because it was raining, but they still had fun.





Daddy even got in on the action!

Christmas with the Ferguson side

On the Sunday before Christmas, we all gathered at Mema and Papa's house (my mom's parents) for Christmas with the extended Nelson family. Unfortunately, Caroline had a stomach bug, so Matt kept her home (good Daddy!) except for just a few minutes of present opening.




Christmas Day, we got together at Grandma and Granddad's house (my parents) along with Aunt Jenn, Uncle Jason, and Kaitlin. We let the kids open a present each, but we saved the rest of the opening until we had more time on Friday. We spent the day hanging out on Friday. It was nice to have a little time with all of them!



The kids helped hand out the presents Friday morning.






(Sorry there aren't any more pictures of Nathan. I tried to get a few, but somehow didn't. The only one I have is a really goofy looking picture. Oh yeah...and if you'd like to see some pictures with the adults in them, check out Dropshots soon.)

Christmas morning at home

Christmas morning, the first thing we did was gather to read the story of Jesus' birth from the Bible. For Caroline's sake, we also used her manger scene and "acted" out the story as it was read. Afterwards, we had breakfast of bacon and pancakes (a treat around here). Then, we moved on to opening presents. As you can see here, Matt was very excited about the diapers that he received!


Caroline's Christmas was marked by lots of baby doll related things. Here she is opening the doll itself.


Nathan has been very much into rockets and space for a while so we got him some pj's in that theme. They even has stars that glow in the dark!


Here are some clothes for Caroline's baby doll. She very quickly endeavored to change the clothes. Her favorite shoes of all she got are some pink sparkly "jelly" shoes. No matter that they're supposed to go with the princess outfit. I specifically included this picture because it shows how Nathan participated in much of the Christmas festivities...right up close to the action. He didn't want to miss what anybody got!


Nathan's big gift was a telescope. We spent some time looking at things we could see outside the window. We still haven't found the time to get it out at night to look at the moon and planets and such. We've either been busy, traveling, or it's been cloudy. Hopefully, we'll find some time soon, though.


As funny as it seems, I think these markers might be the gift that he was most excited about. Every time somebody asked him what he got, very close to the top of the list was markers.


And again, to fit the baby theme, Caroline got some bottles in her stocking. She has enjoyed feeding her various babies with them.

The kids and I made Christmas cookies. I didn't eat any, but those who did said they were pretty good. I think Nathan and Caroline had fun (despite that last picture of Caroline).
